Its been a crazy 24 hours.

Yep. Liam is back in the PICU at Hasbro Children's Hospital. I'm tapping away at my phone to let you know that posting may be scarce around these parts for a bit.

For the curious, Liam had a rough day yesterday with belly distention and overall grumpiness. By 4pm his oxygen requirement had quadrupled and Karin made the call to 911 for an ambulence ride to the hospital. It was absolutely the right call. At 6am and with the help of Liam's surgeon, we decided that the risks of waiting were greater than the risks of surgery and so off to the O.R. he went.

4 hours later Liam came back to his room sans appendix. There was a boatload of craziness going on in that gut of his the details of which I wont get into now.

At the time of this writing Liam is doing well. We still haven't found out what brought on this attack in the first place as his intestines are all healthy and pink so the initial theory of a bowell obstruction is out.

We'll figure it out. (We always do) but it may take a little while. As it stands right now Liam is sedated and healing. We are working with doctors and nurses who we know and trust and who have worked many long hours with Liam in the past to get to the bottom of what brought us here and how to fix it.

If you can spare some good thoughts for us we could use them. Hopefully I'll get some blogging done for you all sometime real soon.

  1. Hey bud, is there anything that we can do for you guys? I have Liam in my thoughts as well as you and Karin. Hope everything improves and that you guys can all get home soon. Call me around 3:30 or I’ll give you a buzz when I get out of work.

  2. If you need anything, I posted something about your stay on the MiP site, maybe someone local can help give you guys a breather or some coffee at least!

Wishing you nothing but the best, and hoping Liam has a fast, trouble free recovery!

  3. We are thinking of you. I always say I’m going to make Addi a t-shirt for her hospital stays and surgeries that says “Expect the Unexpected.” I think they just like to keep us on our toes. Here’s hoping your stay is short and that you can get some sleep.

  4. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Wishing a speedy recovery to Liam! Much love and strength for mom and dad to endure the extra stress! Huggs

  5. Zoey’s mom here, Heather, from Mission iPossible, coming by to offer up our thoughts and especially prayers and wishes for a quick turn around for your sweet little guy and hoping home is coming around the corner.

  6. Don’t you worry about blogging. You have much more important things to concern yourself with. If there is anything you need, Day or Night, just let me know.

  7. Just read Ken’s post on MiP and I’m thinking of you too. I hope you get some rest tonight and he’s stable. Sending cyber hugs and wishes for a quick recovery for your little guy. July is not a suppose to be hospital time now is it. Take care.

  8. Heard about you over at MiP site. Hope you get out of there sooner than expected. So glad you’re in good hands there. Will pray for some clear answers for lots of strength for all of you.
